The opening ceremony of an exhibition of the Bosnian artist Mersad Berber at Katara (28.03.2019.)

The three-month exhibition presents 28 paintings covering many topics related to Bosnia and Herzegovina, culture and heritage, and highlights nature and social life in Bosnia, in addition to special paintings of famous figures there.

Following the opening, Dr Al Kuwari said that the exhibition of the international artist Mersad Berber is of great importance as the work of this distinguished international artist has an international reputation, and the topics presented by the exhibition are of Islamic nature and artistic taste, contributing to the success of the exhibition.

At the opening ceremony, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the State of Qatar Dr Bisera Turkovic delivered a speech, where she appreciated the cultural cooperation between the two countries, pointing out that the late artist was highly appreciated in his country because he demonstrated through his art his love for his country.

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Dr Abdulah Skaka, praised the cultural cooperation between Doha and Sarajevo, thanking Katara for hosting this exhibition, pointing out that a large art project, named after the artist Berber, is being developed by his country.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the State, Drago Lovric, also spoke at the opening, praising Katara’s role in promoting intercultural dialogue.

Berber was born in Bosanski Petrovac in Bosnia and Herzegovina. From 1966 on Berber received more than fifty awards. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana where he graduated. In 1978, Berber received a teaching position at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo.
